Juicy Chicken Burger
Chicken Burger is homemade, delicious, and incredibly easy to make! Once you make it at home, no other chicken burger will come even close.
In an attempt to eat better, I have started counting calories on everything my family eats. Sometimes it’s really shocking to find out how many calories one thing or another has. Counting everything puts things in perspective and gives a better idea of what a healthy portion is and which foods are better to stay away from.
As I was making these chicken burgers I weighed and counted everything as well. I was very curious to see if I a delicious burger can be made under 500 calories without compromising on taste.
Well, guess what? It appears that it is very possible, as a quarter pound chicken burger patty comes to only 215 calories!! How amazing with that? With the burger bun, the spread and veggies the total comes just right below 500 calories. So make these burgers and enjoy them not only for their delicious and amazing flavor, but also because they won’t affect your waist line!

Use a half cup measuring cup to make a 4 oz burger patty. Transfer the meat to a 5 inch round ramekin or other container similar size and press in to make a patty. Rinsing the container with water right before filling with meat will help the meat release easier. Invert onto a piece of wax or parchment paper. Separate patties with wax or parchment paper.
The pictures below are from the Bacon Beef Burgers and are only to show the technique.
You can freeze the stacked patties until you’re ready to make them on the grill or in an oiled skillet over medium-high heat.
To cook: cook in a well-oiled skillet over medium-high heat with the lid on, rotating once the first side is well browned.
To grill: Preheat the grill over medium-high and cook on both sides until cooked through.
Make the sauce:
Stir the mayonnaise, pressed garlic and the Sriracha sauce until smooth.
Assemble:
While the burgers are cooking, toast the buns and spread some of the sauce on one side. Place the sliced tomatoes and green salad leaves on top of one side of the toasted buns.
Once the burger patties are cooked, place them on top of the prepared burger buns with veggies. Now put the other half of the patty on top and enjoy!

Separate patties with wax or parchment paper.

-
To grill: preheat the grill over medium high and cook on both sides until cooked through.

Assemble:
-
While the burgers are cooking, toast the buns and spread the some of the sauce on one side. Place the sliced tomatoes and green salad leaves on top of one side of the toasted buns.

Such a yummy idea for a burger I will give it a try once we get a grill! Oh and about calories I recently seen a quote that went something like this ..America isnt eating healthy because they are so busy counting calories and not looking at the ingredients. I think one can count calories but that doesn’t necesserly mean it’s healthy 🙂 or the other way around. So balance is good
Thanks Tanya!
I actually made these burgers on regular skillet 😀 no grill for me for now 😀 You can try it too!
As to the counting calories, I agree with your quote. Although, I do not know many people that like to go into the nitpicking of the calorie counting.
You can be overweight and eat healthy and be normal weight and eat unhealthy. But there’s not a lot of people that can eat unhealthy and still be in good shape, sooner or later it catches up to them. With that being said, I myself am overweight. Nevertheless, my cholesterol, blood pressure and other scientific indicators of health (according to my doctor) show that I am healthy. That is because I do watch what I eat for the most part.
So, at this point, our family’s priority is understanding the caloric value of meals and adjusting portion sizes accordingly. I have always had clear realization of foods’ caloric value, but my family did not. So telling them what each meal is, allows them to make better choices outside of the house when I am not there to count it for them. With it also comes the knowledge that sometimes eating 1 pound (for example) of zucchini is not only healthier but also visually and flavor-wise more fulfilling than downing a 10 pieces of french fries…
This is a very complicated topic that I have been researching and studying for quite some time now, so I feel I am very well rounded in the area, but my blog is not exactly a health-conscious source for recipes since I only post what I would eat as a “cheat” meal, instead of what represents my daily menu.
I might start to post more of the healthy options, just to have a bigger variety. But healthy foods for the most part are very simplistic and basic, so I always think that people don’t need to know how to roast asparagus or steam meatballs haha 😀
Hello Marina!
This burger was just amazing. We love it.
I’m sorry that i’m asking about a calorie bomb when you are going totally healthy, but do you know how to make salo? I’d really appreciate if you post the recipe. I guess it’s not the best season for it though…
Counting calories is so revealing! I did that for a couple of months and immediately dropped 10 lbs. The thing is that I wasn’t even hungry but I was forced to make better choices. I stopped counting only because life got too hectic with work and studying but I am going to restart as soon as I take my final exam in a week. You are so right, it is possible to eat very well and this burger looks out of this world delicious, Marina! Pinning it and can’t wait to try!
I think once you do it for a couple weeks you memorize the calorie count for a lot of foods and then the process is much faster. At this point, I have to look up every single ingredient and then weigh it in order to make sure I’m getting the right info. One of the most revealing things during this process so far is just how much the fat content of food effects the overall calorie count for the dish. With almost 120 calories per tablespoon of oil, it’s not hard to take your healthy salad to something that would be as fatty as a steak (may be a stretch, but you get the point) if you’re not aware of the caloric value of ingredients.
It is time consuming but definitely worth it so far :D.
As far as you school, you’ll be done in a week! I bet it feels good knowing that 😀
